Narrative development

Concept design at Affonteles starts with written briefs rather than Pinterest boards. We interview clients about guest personas, daypart priorities, and acoustic temperament before any line is drawn on plan.

The resulting narrative document — typically four to six pages — becomes the decision filter for every subsequent design choice.

Visual identity in space

Colour temperature, texture rhythm, and sight-line choreography express brand without logos dominating walls. We map where photography might hang versus where plain plaster should breathe.

Concept packages include A3 mood panels showing material pairings under both morning and evening lighting simulations.

Iteration structure

Two concept directions are presented within three weeks of kickoff. Clients select one for refinement or request a hybrid synthesis documented in a revision memo.

Further direction splits beyond the included rounds are billed at €780 per additional concept board set.

Scale flexibility

Compact 45-square-metre corner units receive the same narrative rigour as double-frontage boulevard spaces. Smaller footprints simply compress the number of spatial zones rather than skipping strategic thinking.

Micro-concepts for kiosk-format coffee bars start at €3,200 for documentation excluding MEP coordination.

Handoff standards

Approved concepts advance to spatial planning or material specification phases as separate engagements. PDF archives are named with version numbers and dates to prevent contractor confusion during tender.

We archive superseded concepts for twelve months in case planning appeals require historical reference.
